Avoid bar rip-offs
in Japan — agree the price first

Lock in the price with a bar or izakaya before you go in. NamiFlow keeps proof that both sides agreed — so you're safe from surprise bills.

The problem

Some bars lure tourists in with a friendly “come in!”, then hand over a bill for tens of thousands of yen — cover charges, “service”, seating fees you never agreed to.

NamiFlow flips it around: you set the price and the rules up front, and ask the staff to agree before you enter. If they agree, you have a clear record. If they won't…

If a place won't confirm a fair price up front, it's often better to look for another spot. Honest bars are usually happy to agree.

What's normal: cover/お通し ~¥300–1,000, service ~10%, late-night +10% — together roughly +20–30%, and normal if shown up front. A surprise ¥30,000 bill isn't. See typical charges →

How it works

Three steps, right outside the door.

1

Set your price

Set the most you're willing to pay in total — tax and all charges included. Pay $7 (or a $19 stay pass).

2

Show the QR

Show it to the staff and ask them to agree. They press & hold for 3 seconds to confirm.

3

You're protected

Their consent is recorded with time, place & device. Your evidence PDF is emailed to you.

What's protected

Every agreement automatically includes:

  • No undisclosed charges — cover (お通し), service and late-night fees can only be billed if the venue declares them up front
  • Tax-included prices only
  • Nothing above the amount you set

A cover or service charge isn't banned — it's normal in Japan. What NamiFlow stops is the surprise: if the venue has one, they declare it on the agreement screen, and you see it in English with the typical range before you go in. Anything they didn't declare can't appear on your bill, and the total still can't exceed what you set.

Get ready before you go out

Buy it now, and at the bar you just set the price and show the QR — you never pay at the venue.

Chain restaurants and places that clearly post their prices are usually fine — you probably don't need us there, and we'd rather say so than sell you something you won't use.

Honest & on your side

The Japanese shown to staff is accurate. It's written by native Japanese speakers, so the venue understands exactly what you're asking for.
It's a record, not a guarantee. NamiFlow creates clear proof of what was agreed. It doesn't guarantee any outcome — but it settles “he said / she said”.
